There are a few things you don’t want to use when cleaning your crock pot. You will want to avoid using harsh abrasive cleaners or scouring pads. These items will scratch the stoneware, and it’s not good for the life of the product.

Although you might think it’s a good idea to clean the crock pot while it’s still hot don’t! Make sure that the stoneware base is cool before putting it in cold water. If the base is hot it could crack if exposed to cold water.

Whatever you do, DO NOT put the heating element base in water or liquid of any kind. This will definitely damage the main functioning part of the unit and more than likely void any warranty or guarantee that came with it.

5 Crock Pot Cleaning Tips infographicTip 1 – Fill With Water

The first tip/step is to fill the crock pot base with warm water. Easy enough right? Let that sit for a few minutes. Do something else like watch the news replays of the game you saw earlier in the evening.

Tip 2 – Pour in Vinegar

Next, you want to get one cup of vinegar and add it to the water. White distilled vinegar will do just fine.

Tip 3 – Add Baking Soda

Now you are going to add one cup of baking soda to the cleaning concoction. Don’t worry the crock pot will not explode 🙂

Tip 4 – Turn Heat on Low

Next, you turn the heat to low for an hour or so. The crock pot will work its magic and clean itself.

Tip 5 – Whip With a Soft Sponge

Once the hour is up, take the base off the heat and whip out the food particles, rinse with water dry and put away.
